Namyangju_Dalbit Sictac

Epitome of fusion cuisine enjoyed at a table onto which warm sunshine descends

Though Namyangju has a countless number of beautiful places, Route 45 that runs along Bukhangang River is home of especially many pretty cafes, restaurants, and tourist spots, and Dalbit Sictac is one of them.

As you drive with Bukhangang River on your side and exit onto a narrow road towards "Baegwol-ri Entrance" until you reach a dead end, you will see a sign that reads "Dalbit Sictac." You then encounter a hanok building seated in a broad outdoor area to which cool breeze from the river blows. This hanok by the river is such a graceful and sentimental space.

After repairing and remodeling a hanok building that had been left attended for 7 years, Dalbit Sictac officially opened on August 15, 2017. Though it has not even been a year since the date, it has already been advertised as one of Namyangju's best restaurants on social media and become a place for which people need to consider standing in the waiting line. If it was known merely for a pretty space with cute interior, the word-of-mouth probably would not have travelled so fast. From cute items that especially appeal to women to delicious food, it was only a matter of time until the place gained popularity as one of the hottest eateries in Namyangju. Dalbit Sictac is famous for fusion cuisine that has slightly transformed hansik, including Gochujang Rose Pasta, Pollack Cream Udon, Spoon Bulgogi Pizza, and Avocado Pollack Bibimbap, all of which have captured the taste buds of many customers. Most reviews give a shout-out to addictive flavors that you crave more and more.

This beautiful place makes me want to stay forever but it feels somewhat guilty to linger around longer at such a popular restaurant. Especially since people still wait in line to be seated, I almost feel obligated to finish my meal in a haste and get up. At Dalbit Sictac, however, those who have finished their food typically move to an outdoor table with the view of Bukhangang River to have a relaxing time with a cup of coffee. From food to coffee, the restaurant offers one-stop services through which you may enjoy Bukhangang River “in a relaxing manner.”

After experiencing the beautiful hanok, tasty fusion dishes, and a garden to enjoy Bukhangang River’s scenery, I suddenly grew curious of the origin of the name, “Dalbit Sictac,” and asked the owner who gave me quite a surprising answer. It was a name recommended by a chef there, and the owner eventually selected it because it goes well with the place.

“There must be another reason.”

As I was asking the question the second time, a light was seen coming through the windows of the hanok and gently falling onto a table. The light was rainbow-colored; there must have been moisture in the air. At night, it felt as if peaceful moonlight will be abundantly bestowed upon the table in front of a window. That is why this place is called Dalbit Sictac.
