European homemade style restaurant

European homemade style restaurant with only three tables operated on reservations

It has already been three years since its opening. When Amelie just opened in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, a lot of people in this neighborhood expressed concern about the restaurant, saying "Is this kind of restaurant going to work in our neighborhood?" Indeed, there were only a few pubs serving makgeolli (raw rice wine) and a few side dishes around Amelie at that time. However, things changed considerably three years later. As it became famous through word-of-mouth on SNS, Amelie progressed into becoming a gourmet restaurant to which people readily come even from afar to try its food. Moreover, cafes and restaurants have sprung up on all the nearby streets.

The interior of Amelie is stylish yet natural. Bags, aprons, and books appear to be placed here and there with no rhyme and reason, but it is clear that the owners put a lot of effort into the interior. The decorations such as books and dried flowers change with the season. The owners, a brother and sister duo, did not partition off the kitchen, making it well visible to watch them cook from the tables, which in fact would not be conceivable if they didn’t have a clean, neat disposition. The siblings chop and stir-fry ingredients without a word in the space. Their appearance flows naturally as if they are actors performing on stage.

Amelie is a small space with only three tables. If you are a casual customer who passes by the restaurant and suddenly runs into it, it would be difficult to eat its food. Since it is fully booked, you would be highly likely to be turned away. If you inquire about reservations by telephone, the owners will send you a text to show you the menu. It is recommended to check the menu in advance because the menu changes with the seasonal change.

Amelie's menu changes a little each month. Before reserving a seat, it would be wise to inquire about the current month's menu by telephone or SMS. The set meal comes in three types: pasta, steak, and lasagna. Ricotta salad added with fresh fruit in season such as figs and a drink are served together. The price for the set meal comes to KRW 23,000.
