Namyangju_KOFIC Namyangju Studios

Hub for film production built on a piece of land measuring 132 square meters

where your favorite films were shot

As you travel through Namyangju, you may keep clicking the camera shutter. You cannot just pass by Dumulmeori with a scenic view, nostalgic Neungnae Station, and Sujongsa Temple on Ungilsan Mountain overlooking the Hangang River. Each place turns into the best photo spot. In addition, KOFIC Namyangju Studios is located here, which is a place meant for photographing and filming.

The filming studios built on a piece of land measuring 132 square meters are equipped with outdoor sets that reproduce Panmunjeom, a folk village, and Korean traditional houses, along with six indoor studios. Also, there is a filming support center where visitors can learn about and experience the principles and production techniques of films regarding recording, editing, creation of miniatures and props, and special effect techniques. The prop room and wardrobe holds about 400,000 props and over 50,000 costumes. You can find payphones, cigarettes and matches from the olden days here. However, photographing is not allowed in the prop room and wardrobe.

The outdoor sets that were created for the filming of specific movies have been maintained as permanent sets for shooting films and dramas. The Panmunjeom set was made for Park Chan-wook's Joint Security Area. Most of the Panmunjeom scenes you have seen in movies and dramas were filmed here. The folk village set was created for Im Kwon-taek's Chwihwaseon, a film about Joseon era painter Jang Seung-eop. The traditional house set "Undang" is where films such as Hwang Jin Yi and King and the Clown were filmed. These sets are open to visitors except when shooting is taking place.

KOFIC Namyangju Studios also has a theater. There are free movie screenings once a day on weekdays (13:30) and twice on weekends (13:00, 15:00).
