Pocheon_Sanjeonghosu Lake

A form of rest

Before I got out of the car, I was immersed in quite a deep thought. It was about how I would spend my time at Sanjeonghosu Lake. A peaceful rest was a good option but could be bit boring. A part of me also wanted to have an exciting time playing but relaxation sounded nice as well. I rolled down the car window to find the weather to be gorgeous. I decided to take some pictures to look around the lake.

Sanjeonghosu Lake boasts clean water quality and mountains of beautiful geographical features. It is great to take strolls and enjoy the scenery during spring and fall while the sleigh festival is a fun event in the wintertime. The walking trail along the lake in the bosom of Myeongseongsan Mountain is about 3 km long. The trail begins with a heart tunnel. Walking with my earphones on together with small ripples in the lake, it felt as if I was with someone. I stopped and gazed at the broad lake to find my mind and soul become comfortable. Even the wind that messes up my hair felt refreshing. On a day when the water is still, many people go on duck boats to roam around in the water or gather in the sculpture garden located on one side of the lake to leave commemorative photos. There are a restaurant and a snack bar in the back of the sculpture garden where tourists who are starving from walking can fill up their stomachs with good food. Meanwhile, “Sanjeong Land,” a small but exciting amusement park that owns various kinds of rides, also awaits you. At the ticket office, tickets may be purchased according to the number of attractions to ride, and it is recommended to bring some cash since discounts are available for tickets bought with cash.

It is a great idea to visit other tourist spots located near Sanjeonghosu Lake. The colony of sliver grass established on the way up to Myeongseongsan Mountain; Pyunggang Botanical Garden, the repository of rare and endangered plants; and HanGwa Culture Museum run by Mr. Kim Kyu-heun, the director and a master of hangwa, or Korean sweets as well as many restaurants and accommodations such as Hanwha Resort are located around the lake.

There are various ways to relax. Instead of clinging to a single form of rest, how about stopping by Sanjeonghosu Lake to enjoy tranquility and vigor at the same time?
