Goyang_Gallery JAUNJE

Wishing gifts that enrich everyday life to become art

One of the most outstanding structures at Plantation in which nature and cultural space are in a perfect harmony is Gallery Jaunje,

which can be found after walking straight towards the center of the plantation from its entrance. The gallery’s building made of dark-colored stone exudes a feel that it is alive and breathing within the nature. The designer of the building used rocks called gabion to create a living space through which lights and wind penetrate. Gallery JAUNJE connects well with the inherent look of the earth and aggressively blends itself to the surrounding environment and the beautiful scenery. The space even makes us anticipate its appearance that changes as time goes by.

The first floor is a large exhibition hall where large works with a height greater than 5 m can be displayed. Through the large glasses under the high ceiling, natural light shines upon the artworks. Exhibition spaces continue on the second and third floors as well, the latter of which, in particular, is capable of outdoor exhibits. A clear view of not only Plantation but also Bukhansan Mountain in the distance makes the exhibit even more special.

Gallery Jaunje always welcomes new artists and their work. “JAUNJE,” which means “imbued with love and joy,” became the name of the gallery with a hope that it would serve as an exciting place for people who love culture and arts to come and share together. The gallery is operated with a goal to promote artists and artworks and, simultaneously, help form a consensus among more and more people in creative activities.

If you wish to experience the gallery in a more relaxing manner, I recommend to order an Afternoon Tea Set. You will have the luxury to enjoy the artworks while indulging in tea and various desserts.
