“Forest of healing” located the closest to the city

Able to be reached within 1 hour from Seoul or various parts of Gyeonggi-do, Sandeulsori Arboretum is located at the closest distance from the city and the “forest of the nature as it is.” It preserves the pure and clean nature that has been maintained with no pesticides for 18 years, and features more than 1,200 different species of plants including wild flowers and herbs over a 40,000-pyeong land.

As a place that runs healing programs through which one may be healed and recover in the nature, it has many signs related to health throughout the facility. A place called “Where to smell grass” shows a sign with an explanation that the zone helps alleviate atopy while, under the “acupressure boards,” the good reasons for stimulating soles of our feet are described in detail. A sign by the hiking trail tells us why we should walk (or hike), which makes us nod our heads in agreement.

Sandeulsori Arboretum owns a variety of experience facilities to stimulate children’s interests and allow them a broad space to run around in the nature. From “Marvelous Items Museum” that has gathered and exhibits items you can touch with hands, listen with your ears and feel with your hearts, and “Fun Play Path” that enables a wagon-pulling experience to “Raft Dock” at which rafting can be enjoyed and “Animal Farm” where you may feed the animals, coupled with barefoot experience, frog ecology pond and ecology museum, self-leading learning and character education are possible through such scientific experiences in the forest and physical training.

For infants and elementary school students, weekend forest experience programs, which include Kid Farmer, forest play, five-sense cooking, special experiences (woodwork, pottery), forest library and free play, as well as forest play programs, which are group forest experiences held throughout the year, are currently operated.

Adults are in need of healing in the nature as well.

The forest healing program for adults is a popular activity for workshops of large corporations or small-sized team meetings. I believe what workers need the most is just rest without doing anything. People who have visited here testify that even lying down on a hammock, gently rocking back and forth by the breeze, and taking a short but sweet nap relieve the level of stress.

It would be a good idea to go on a picnic to Sandeulsori Arboretum this weekend to a forest that heals and offers genuine relaxation for my family.
