▶ Suyoung Park: Hello. This is Suyoung Park, a ‘Culture News Messenger’ that quickly delivers cultural news such as various exhibitions and performances in Gyeonggi-do. These days, Gyeonggi-do is carrying out various projects to revitalize the art market in the province. It is the '2020 Art Competition' project.

○ Sungyong Park: Are you supporting art exhibitions or creative activities?

▶ Suyoung Park: Going further from there, it is said that it gives vitality to the art market or the art market so that it can thrive. We will hear from Team Leader Kwon Shin for more details.

“The art competition project is a project for entering the art market of visual artists in Gyeonggi-do. So this year, the 2020 Art Competition selected 60 outstanding artists in Gyeonggi-do, and selected six partners, including a gallery that can specialize in exhibition and sales. The characteristics of the art competition business have been limited as they have been selling works in the public sector, so a professional business operator in the private sector is selected, and works are exhibited and sold through them to activate distribution.”

○ Sungyong Park: So, six cooperative companies that can plan and sell works and 60 visual artists in Gyeonggi-do are working together. I'm already looking forward to it. What specific activities do you do?

▶ Suyoung Park: Largely, we can talk about overseas expansion, art market, and pop-up gallery. Various activities are prepared that cover both the domestic and overseas art markets. Right now, this month, an auction broadcast through YouTube live broadcasting is being prepared. I heard what kind of broadcast it was from Kwon Shin.

“From July 13th, through Lee Kwang-ki's Gwangki channel <Live Auction Show>, art competition artists were introduced and works were prepared on YouTube. The purpose is largely to promote art competition artists and induce market entry, and ultimately to sell. So far, the winning bid rate for Lee Gwang-ki's Gwangki Channel live auction show is 100%. Therefore, we are looking forward to sales performance, and we are also looking forward to introducing artists in art competitions and strengthening their status in the market.”

○ Sungyong Park: Is it Lee Gwang-ki, an actor we know? Is Lee Gwang-gi running the Gwangki Channel?

▶ Suyoung Park: Yes, that's right. Currently, he operates a ‘Gwangki Channel' that mainly deals with art and camping, and is active as a host and creator of the ‘Live Auction Show' that sells artworks of various genres such as paintings, sculptures, prints, and photos.

○ Sungyong Park: Recently, I heard online and non-face-to-face exhibitions at ‘Tell Me GGC' a few times, but I didn't know if this was even selling works online. I’m curious about how the “live auction show” works?

▶ Suyoung Park: <Lee Gwang-ki's Live Auction Show with Art Competition> is held every other week from July 13 to December. It is said that Gyeonggi-do artists' works will be presented at a live auction show, so I hope that many people who love culture and arts will be interested.

○ Sungyong Park: Monday, July 13th, next week. I’m also curious, so I’ll look for the broadcast. By the way, this live auction is probably the first time even for writers. What do you think about online auctions?

▶ Suyoung Park: Artist Hyesung Lee said that at first, worries were ahead. He said he changed his mind after watching the actual broadcast.

“It was my first time seeing live auctions. It was a little different from the auction atmosphere I knew and participated in before. It was held in a unique and friendly atmosphere, so I was really curious about how my work would be introduced in the live auction. Also, the reactions of the visitors who participate after watching the live auction come up in real time, and I am curious and excited about the reactions.”

○ Sungyong Park: I am also communicating with listeners in real time while broadcasting, and this is really attractive. Once you fall out, you cannot come out.

▶ Suyoung Park: That's right. Everyone, send a lot of texts.

○ Sungyong Park: But besides this live auction show, there are various supports. I really hope that they are helpful support for writers. What do real writers think about these applications?

▶ Suyoung Park: I usually show my works to the public through exhibitions and communicate with them, but this COVID-19 outbreak has reduced such opportunities a lot. In this situation, it is said that they regained strength thanks to the support projects of the '2020 Art Games' project, the creation of networks and communication with artists. Let’s listen to the story of artist Yoon Sang-yoon.

“Because of the corona, the Hong Kong art fairs are blocked, and all of the domestic art fairs have no way to advance. . The network environment between writers is important, so writers can connect with each other and seek different exits...”

▶ Suyoung Park: Let's listen to the story of Lee Hye-sung that these applications have helped me to focus more on the work as a writer.

[Interview/ Artist Hyesung Lee]

“Among the projects being conducted at the art competition this time, there are pop-up galleries where the public can easily meet art works in everyday life, such as complex cultural facilities and public facilities, and art markets or art fairs where many visitors can enjoy and participate. It seems that various large and small exhibition projects from overseas to exhibitions are being planned and promoted, so I am grateful that it seems to be a great force and driving force in my work as a participating artist.”

○ Sungyong Park: Now that I hear the stories of two writers, Sangyoon Yoon and Hyesung Lee, it seems that it does not end with a simple one-time support, but helps the writers to stand on their own and move forward.

▶ Suyoung Park: That's right. Many people are working hard. The Art Competition project is scheduled to continue to visit residents of the city from this month to December through various activities. Let’s listen closely to Team Leader Kwon Shin.

“If support for artists has been limited to simply supporting projects, exhibitions, or creation of works, I hope that the art competition business will go further and create and support various businesses with self-sustaining power by revitalizing the art market or art market. Art Competition Business The 2020 business actually starts in earnest from July. In addition to Lee Kwang-ki's Gwangki channel live auction show, various on-touch art competitions and various types of businesses in Paju continue until December of the year. We would appreciate your interest.”

▶ Suyoung Park: It is said that the 2020 art competition business will continue to be held in Gyeonggi-do, following the live auction show. I hope that these efforts can be accumulated one by one so that not only the art market but also more cultural news of Gyeonggi Province can be delivered. Please keep an eye out for cultural news such as exhibitions and performances in Gyeonggi-do.
