▷ PARK Junebum (b.1976) Puzzle 3-02

PARK Junebum has run a series of projects called Puzzle from 2005. It is the record of a group of people undertaking a mission after the players are given rules to follow. Sitting in front of the table, each person moves within a rectangular section, following the game rules, a metaphor of those who work to carry out their tasks. The camera shoots with a view from above so that the individuals are only seen as the movements of the tables. Will the puzzle be completed within the time limit?
▷ Rhee Jaye (b.1973) Swan

Against a background picture of a white swan in a public bath, the artist appears with her hair wrapped in a white towel. She purposely swims with the towel on her hair, resembling a swan, in front of the mural where the swan swims on the lake. Their visual commonness arouses laughs since they are both in a different context. Short but strongly stamped in the viewer’s memory because of the unpredicted visual experience it offers, Swan is one of Rhee Jaye’s main works from the 2000s.
▷ Ryubiho
(b.1970) Euphoric Drive

Euphoric Drive gives the feeling of watching a car racing game. It is a 3D animated film where the screen advances following a yellow road, 10-20 km per hour, incessantly passing signs. The video expresses the psychological landscape of an individual who got used to the capitalist routine; one feels ‘euphoric’ when one sees familiar brand marks, when the unfamiliar trip road turns into a friendly and familiarized place.
▷ Ham Kyungah (b.1966) One Day Before Exhibition

The artist casts doubt over the overloaded plan of the exhibition when she was invited to New York in 2004, and this became the motif of her work. She swiftly completed producing — shooting, editing and burning 2-channel DVDs — in her hotel room during the evening before the opening day and had the result played. At the end of the video, the artist hides inside of a bag, expressing her extreme anxiety facing the excessive system of the exhibition.
▷ Ham Kyungah
(b.1966) Imaginary Mother of Mrs. Park

It is the story of P, a person who has never met her mother. The artist asked her to draw her imaginary mother, and P repeatedly drew and erased her drawing. The work is an animated film made of her 10 drawings, and the second and third imagery of the same figure is created with overlapping images. This maximizes P’s expression of confusion, consciousness, conflict, longing and vague sadness about her mother.
