Opened in 2011, Namyangju Organic Theme Park is divided into “CocoMong Farm Village” where a gigantic red CocoMong character stands tall and “Namyangju Organic Museum” at which the history and characteristics of organic farming can be learned.
CocoMong
It was constructed mainly because Namyangju is a city known for organic goods, and people’s level of awareness and interests in organic farming and organic foods were on the rise. It is the only theme park in the world specializing in “organic”.
Namyangju Organic Theme Park
At the Organic Museum, the history and characteristics of organic farming are taught through various experience learning activities and seasonal events. As you look around different spaces such as Coexistence and Circulation, Abundance and Crisis, Ark of Taste and Urban Farming, you will be able to understand the deep-rooted history and value of organic as well as establish a clear view on healthy food.
The most popular attraction among children at the Organic Theme Park is CocoMong Farm Village.
Barn Playground
CocoMong Farm Village, which greets children with a familiar character of CocoMong, is an experience facility for infants where they can be “kid farmers” and participate in activities at various corners, including “Barn Playground” with a jungle gym and a trampoline for the young ones to jump around as much as they want, “Tractor Playground” where a kid can ride a tractor and become a farmer to experience circulation agriculture, “Vegetable Garden Playground” providing a chance to observe diverse seasonal crops and cultivate with replica crops, and “Kero Animal Farm”, home of peacocks, meerkats, sheep, mini pigs, black goats and turtles. At Kero Animal Farm, children may feed food to the animals.
Once you finish learning about organic ingredients, next up is a cooking class called Ageul Cooking Class where a variety of dishes may be made by using organic ingredients like icing and character cookies. This program is operated on a first-come, first-served basis and with reservations (separate fees for experiences), and details of the program vary from day to day.
If you are at CocoMong Farm Village, it is a must-do activity to get on a train decorated with the cute face of CocoMong character and take a tour around the Farm Village.
CocoMong Train runs six times a day on weekdays between 10-11AM and 1-4PM, and eight times a day on weekends and holidays between 10AM-5PM. The train ride costs 2,000 KRW.
