A pottery shop like a botanical garden filled with Italian terra-cotta pots

Standing at the front gate of the Nam June Paik Art Center, you can see the Zien Shop shrouded in a lush green aura across the street.

It displays a wide variety of plants, giving it the look of a botanical garden, but it specializes in clay pots. While students of modern art come from far away to visit the Nam June Paik Art Center, the shop is also a well-known destination among gardening lovers throughout the nation who visit it no matter how long it takes to travel.

Zien Shop's main products are its reddish terra-cotta pots that have faded in some spots, making them look more natural and unique. The store sells handcrafted terra-cotta pots that it imports directly from Italy. Terra-cotta pots are rich in quartz, iron, and minerals, and have a lot of air holes on the surface, which is good for healthy plant growth. There are uniquely designed terra-cotta pots with handles or patterns which can only be purchased at Zien Shop.

Just as pebbles and tree branches each look different, the pots that you come across at this shop are also distinct from one another. They are different in color and shape. Some are chipped or cracked. Although Zien Shop is a pottery store, the natural mood created by these vintage pots may give you the feeling of being in a forest rather than an artificial space.

In addition to clay pots, the shop also sells gardening tools such as shovels, scoops, and scissors, as well as various kinds of soil and other materials. The Zien Art Space is a multi-space consisting of a cafe, a restaurant, a gallery, and a pottery studio, and is also filled with the clay pots and fresh plants of Zien Shop. While looking around the shop, your steps are naturally directed towards the café, restaurant, or pottery studio. To call it a botanical garden made of pots would be no exaggeration.

● From palm size to large kimchi storage pot sizes, Zien Shop's clay pots vary in size, shape, and color.

● The pottery studio behind the shop holds programs for each season, such as "Making Your Own Flower Pots" or "Making Halloween Pumpkin Pots".
