○ Sungyong Park: This is the time for “Gyeong Gi Culture,” , to quickly deliver the cultural news of Gyeonggi Province. We are together every Friday. Let's meet Reporter Park full of bright energy. Hello. Reporter Park!

▶ Suyoung Park: Hello. This is Suyoung Park, a ‘Culture News Messenger’ that quickly delivers cultural news such as various exhibitions and performances in Gyeonggi-do. What kind of space do you draw when you think of ‘art museum'? Where can I see the exhibition...?

○ Sungyong Park: Right. A space where you can preserve art and see exhibits? ...But seeing Reporter Park asking this question, is there something special about the museum we are introducing today?

▶ Suyoung Park: Oh, you are keen. The in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, which we introduce today, not only holds and exhibits contemporary art, but also operates a “creative studio” for artists. You can experience living art in person in the creative studio space where contemporary domestic and foreign artists reside.

○ Sungyong Park: It is a complex cultural facility with a creative studio. What kind of exhibition do you hold here?

▶ Suyoung Park: It is said that this is the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Youngeun Museum of Art this year. In commemoration of the 20th anniversary, a special exhibition is held to remember all the Youngeunjigis with Youngeun Museum of Art. will be held until January next year. I will hear from Director Park Seon-joo for a detailed story.

[Interview/ Director Park Seon-joo]

“This is the 20th anniversary exhibition, “Youngeunjigi, Connecting Memories”. The Youngeun Art Museum opened in November 2000, and we are an art gallery with a residence creation studio. About 250 writers from the 1st to the 11th have passed through. This time, the artists who went through our museum donate (works) to our museum, and I want to show the history, histories, and stories in the exhibition hall in 3 times over a year. The exhibition continues until the month of January 2021 with the title of Part 1 True, Part 2 Consistently, and Part 3 Valuable.”

▶ Suyoung Park: The exhibition will be held until January 31 of next year, over a total of three times by 200 artists at Youngeun Creative Studio. 'The First Exhibition Believely', composed of artists from the 1st to the 7th, will be on display until June 28th.

○ Sungyong Park: Oh, when ‘Part 1 Be Truthful' is over, go to ‘Part 2 steadily', and then ‘Part 3 Valuable' proceeds, and the year 2020 of Youngeun Museum of Art is made by artists from the 1st to the 11th. You are going.

▶ Suyoung Park: Right. 'Youngeun Creative Studio' cannot be left out when talking about Youngeun Museum of Art, enough to hold such a special exhibition in celebration of the 20th anniversary. Last time, you mentioned the ‘Residency Program’ a bit.

○ Sungyong Park: I remember. It was a program that provided work spaces for writers and helped them focus on their work.

▶ Suyoung Park: Youngeun Museum of Art was the first in Korea to support resident artists for this residency program. However, Youngeun Creative Studio does not stop at providing work spaces, but also provides exhibition spaces for exhibitions. The artist Jamie Ra, who worked abroad, said that thanks to this program, she was able to do her first solo exhibition.

[Interview/ Author Jamie Lee]

“Actually, other (overseas) residency does not have anything other than giving a studio, such as giving a solo exhibition or giving you an opportunity to participate in a project. In the Youngeun Museum, accommodation is provided, a studio is also provided, and please do a solo exhibition with the results of your work. Even after the residency is over, if the artist's work matches the project, he invites me to give me an opportunity to exhibit the work. I think that is different from overseas residency. Being able to exhibit in an art museum is a huge thing for an artist.”

○ Sungyong Park: I think there are a lot of writers who want to use the Youngeun Creative Studio residency program. It seems to be made up of supports that provide practical help to the writers.

▶ Suyoung Park: That's right. At the second exhibition hall, I was able to look at the archives of the Youngeun Museum of Art at a glance, and there were a lot of activities, such as a joint workshop for resident artists, and an educational program with visitors and artists. It was an ideal art museum itself. It is said that there were many practical difficulties and worries about manpower and project costs.

[Interview/ Director Park Seon-joo]

“In fact, it's not easy to run a residency program together while running. The same goes for operating expenses and for manpower. There are so many tasks, so I thought a lot about whether I had to do this. I thought that it was a bit overwhelming from the standpoint of having to do a lot of work by doing a lot of work, not just an art gallery, but after this has passed 10 and 20 years, the residency program for Youngeun cannot be separated from Youngeun, and the Youngeun Museum of Art It is an art museum that raises artists, and I think that I should go in that direction.”

▶ Suyoung Park: I thought that the more I talked with writers who are active in the residency program, the more spaces like this should be. I honestly heard what it was like while working with writers Jamie Lee and writer Han Flood.

“I got a lot of information from the writers I met here, and I did my first solo exhibition at the Youngeun Museum, and the world of my work seems to have changed a lot.” (Artist J. Mi-ri) I came and felt a lot. It was impressive to see that everyone who works and respects and considers the author, and that was a part of gratitude as a writer.” (Writer Han, Flood)

○ Sungyong Park: ‘I have developed pride and pride as a writer. ‘ I think you have strengthened yourself internally while working here. It is possible because such an environment and atmosphere are formed, right?

▶ Suyoung Park: That's right. The more I talked, the more I felt. Before I went to the site, I was a little bit thinking, ‘Why should I do the previous poem over a year, isn't it a little too long?' ‘The Youngeun Museum of Art today is thanks to you, I will not forget. Thank you ’When I saw the message spreading like this, I felt that if I was a member, I would be more sticky and proud.

○ Sungyong Park: I also want to belong to the Youngeun Museum of Art. When you look at the exhibition, the audience also becomes Youngeun, right?

▶ Suyoung Park: Sure, I became Youngeunjigi this time. Director Park Seon-joo hopes to see this exhibition and see that there were so many invisible hands until the current Youngeun Museum of Art.

[Interview/ Director Park Seon-joo]

"Youngeun Museum of Art also archives on the second floor with numerous writers and many people. It was made in this history. It is not made up of one director, one founder, or one person. Each writer. I think there are more invisible touches than visible touches while running an art gallery. I hope you feel the touch and go. I hope it will be a space where I can relax and go to the tempo as long as I can feel the rest.”

▶ Suyoung Park: I hope you can take a lot of time and enjoy watching it. I am constantly communicating with local residents and wondering if there is a way for art to permeate everyday life. Aside from the exhibition, I will listen to various programs from Mina Park.

[Interview/ Mina Park, Team Leader]

“Youngeun Museum of Art not only provides exhibitions, but also provides exhibition-related and artist-related educational activities to local residents. On the morning of Saturday, May 30th, the “Free Children Experience with Artists” program was held, and on May 30th and 31st, the “Sad Art Contest” was held for two days to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Youngeun Museum of Art. We are constantly striving to support various and abundant programs to local residents, so please pay close attention. “Please come to the Youngeun Museum of Art with your family~ Clap Clap”

○ Sungyong Park: The special exhibition for the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Youngeun Museum of Art will be held truely, steadily, and valuablely over a total of 3 times, and it is said that there are plans to present more than 200 works by Youngeun Creative Studio artists. At present, there are various programs as well as the exhibition . It would be nice to visit and share and remember the 20th anniversary.
