▶ Suyoung Park: Hello. This is Suyoung Park, a ‘Culture News Messenger’ that quickly delivers cultural news such as various exhibitions and performances in Gyeonggi-do.

○ Sungyong Park : How have you been for a week? These days, the weather is over 30 degrees and it's so hot. Watch out for the heat.

▶ Suyoung Park: That's right. Even if I move a little, sweat is flowing. It would be nice to overcome this hot weather with passion through learning. We brought the news of “Gyeonggi Teens Musical Recruitment” filled with passion.

○Sungyong Park : “Gyeonggi Teens Musical”? Is it “teens”, so is it a musical performed by teenagers in Gyeonggi-do?

▶Suyoung Park: That's right. This is a musical curriculum for youth in Gyeonggi-do. It was a pilot project last year, but the response was so good that it was only carried out last year in Uijeongbu, and this time it is said to be recruited by expanding it to five areas. Let’s hear what kind of program it is from Song Chang-jin.

[Interview/ Changjin Song, General Manager]

“Gyeonggi Teens Musical is a representative art education brand in Gyeonggi-do. It is a program to develop healthy social skills (through musicals) and talents of youth in Gyeonggi Province. This year, we have expanded to 5 regions in Gimpo, Seongnam, Osan, Yongin, and Uijeongbu to operate an art group. Professional artistic directors, music directors, choreography directors, and acting directors will guide the youth in Gyeonggi Province.”

○ Sungyong Park: You can think of it as an art education program representing Gyeonggi-do. Students who were disappointed since last year was held only in Uijeongbu I can apply this time! This program will practice musical practice and later serve on the actual stage, right?

▶ Suyoung Park: Yes, that's right. During the period of the activity, I practice hard on a single creative musical, and I also see myself on stage through the ‘Youth Musical Festival'. The creative musicals completed in this way can be seen in schools and clubs in Tokyo. Let’s hear the detailed story from Song Chang-jin, head of headquarters.

“Usually we want to study musical performances at school at festivals. All of them are licensed musicals, so each is producing five musicals. This musical will hold a youth musical festival from the end of January to early February of 2021 next year. It will be shown in the musical performance, and it will be documented and distributed to art schools and clubs.”

○ Sungyong Park: Our students participate in the first performance of the creative musical premiere. Actually, musicals can feel a bit difficult for teenagers. It is nice that in the future, you will be able to easily access musicals in schools and clubs.

▶ Suyoung Park: At this timing, you can't go without seeing the first performance of last year, right? The first period last year was a performance of in the small theater of the Uijeongbu Arts Center. The stories similar to the students' situation gave a lot of sympathy and it was fun throughout the practice. I'll take a peek at the performance.

○ Sungyong Park: It's full of energy. Even though I heard it for a while, it was nice to feel that the students are really enjoying the stage.

▶ Suyoung Park: They said that it was nice to be able to get rid of the stress from schoolwork through musical practice like this.

○ Sungyong Park: It has a positive effect on students.

▶ Suyoung Park: I asked the students who actually did Gyeonggi Teens Musical activities what it was like. Let’s listen to the stories of Salvation Hee-yang, who had no previous stage experience, and Kim Eung-hyuk, who dreams of becoming a musical actor.

-Student Wonhee Koo-

“I was preparing for a job last year and working this year. If I go to work, I have a lot of time constraints, so I didn't think I would have an opportunity to apply for a musical unless this time, so I applied at once. While I was working as a student music director, I studied and learned a lot with the music director. I felt like my friends who could major in were learning so much what they could learn.”

-Student Eunghyuk Kim-

“My dream is to become a musical actor. There were things I knew originally, and I learned something new, but I only knew, but I thought I didn't fully understand. By the way, university professors explain these things. It seems to have been an opportunity for me to develop myself. I was happy throughout the practice.”

○ Sungyong Park: He said he was happy throughout the practice, but he looks very excited.

▶ Suyoung Park: Students said that this class is ‘there are a lot of classes to get to. ‘ There are not just acting and singing classes, but you can experience all the elements necessary for the production of the performance, from analyzing the work to making props. It is said that he gained confidence and gained the ability to write and analyze.

○ Sungyong Park: I think there are students who want to apply for Gyeonggi Teens Musical while listening to this broadcast. Are there any conditions to apply for Gyeonggi Teens Musical?

▶ Suyoung Park: Anyone in their teens living in Gyeonggi-do or attending a school located in Gyeonggi-do can apply. You'll be worried a lot like ‘What if I don't have stage experience?' No need to worry. When I look at my first-year friends last year, most of them had no performance experience. I'll listen to students Eung-hyuk Kim and Jeo Ji-hee what kind of friends they recommend.

[Interview/ Students Guo Ji-hee and Eung-hyuk Kim]

-Student Eunghyuk Kim-

“Honestly, it's ridiculous to perform on the stage called the Seoul Arts Center when you were a teenager. I highly recommend it to all youth who are really interested and want to try it.”

-Student Wonhee Koo-

“It's good to do it with my majoring friends, but I recommend it more to my non-majoring friends because I get as much as my majors can get. I went to study musicals, but I hope to get a lot of good people and a lot of good things.”

○ Sungyong Park: A friend who was originally interested in musicals will be an opportunity to grow up once more, and even a friend who has not had related experience before will be an opportunity to acquire related knowledge and experience valuable experiences. Are you currently recruiting for ‘Gyeonggi Teens Musical'?

▶ Suyoung Park: Yes, on July 15th, about 30 participants are being recruited from each of the five regions in Gimpo, Seongnam, Osan, Yongin, and Uijeongbu. I will hear the detailed story from Song Chang-jin, head of headquarters.

[Interview/ Changjin Song, General Manager]

“The recruitment of the Gyeonggi Teens Musical Team is currently in progress. Until July 15th, you can download it from the website of cultural foundations in Gimpo, Seongnam, Osan, Yongin, and Uijeongbu. If you refer to the notice on our GyeonGi Cultural Foundation homepage, there is a link, so you can download the application form for each region and apply.”

○ Sungyong Park: When you submit your application, you will be auditioning, right?

▶ Suyoung Park: Right. At the audition, they say that you can show your passion to actively participate in musical practice.

○ Sungyong Park: Passion is more important than skill.

▶ Suyoung Park: Right. In addition to the musical education program this year, there are also opportunities to participate as ambassadors for Gyeonggi Teens Musical. We are also recruiting “Teens Promotion Team” until July 26th for friends who are more interested in writing or video production than acting or directing. We ask for your interest.
