The Age of Stone and Wood

The beginnings of the Paleolithic era with tools made of stone go back at least millions of years. The protagonist of the Paleolithic era was by far stoneware, or stone. This is because most of the relics of that era are tools made of stone.

However, it is likely that the first tool was wood. It is easy to guess that early humans also used tree branches as tools as there are many sightings about chimpanzees skillfully using tree branches as tools.

However, there is a limit to revealing when a tree was used as a tool in earnest. First of all, it is very difficult for trees, which are organic materials, to remain original for a long time. However, in places like the Schöningen ruins in Germany, several wooden windows from about 400,000 years ago have been unearthed, giving information on the early human use of wooden tools. The wooden spears found at the Schoningen ruins were clearly sharpened at the ends and the center of gravity was properly positioned at the front, like today's javelin, so it was evident that they were deadly hunting tools that could be thrown away very efficiently. And the performance and power of the wooden window would have doubled as the stone spearheads were attached to the end of this wooden window.

As such, trees, which were used as important tools from the early stages of human evolution, began to exert their power in earnest when mankind began to invent the sacks. The wooden sack combined with the stone tools made the tools more useful and effective. The tool's performance was also significantly improved. The wooden sack is very important in that mankind was the first to combine two different materials to create a new type of tool that increased efficiency and utilization. It is not an exaggeration to say that the tree bag is a new milestone in the evolution of mankind in that it can be said that mankind, who has entered the era of new technology while making stone tools, can enter the path of technological innovation to another level by attaching a wooden bag to the stone tool.

This is because the first work created by fusion of different materials and combining them to overcome the limitations of raw materials and improving performance to create completely new things is the first work created by the full display of humanity's creative intellectual ability. So, the Paleolithic Age can be said to be the age of stone and wood.

There is a proverb that you don't know that you don't know how to rot in Shinseonnoreum. It means that he doesn't know how time passes because he is distracted by a fun thing, but it tells us well that an ax with a rotted bag is useless. An ax is worth having a sack, and a sack can do its job only with an ax. There are numerous axes and sacks in our society. Conservative and progressive, strong and weak, men and women, whichever is an ax, and which one is a sack together, they must be combined and together to play their role sufficiently, and it also tells a wooden sack of the Paleolithic era.
