○ Sungyong Park: This is the time for “Gyeong Gi Culture,” <Tell Me~ GGC>, to quickly deliver the cultural news of Gyeonggi Province. We are together every Friday. Let's meet Reporter Park full of bright energy. Hello. Reporter Park!

▶ Suyoung Park: Hello. This is Suyoung Park, a ‘Culture News Messenger’ that quickly delivers cultural news such as various exhibitions and performances in Gyeonggi-do. Do you like jazz?

○ Sungyong Park: Jazz is good. I really like jazz with a glass of wine. Come to think of it, I don't think there was time to enjoy jazz performances this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Is this news about jazz today?

▶ Suyoung Park: That's right. The Gwangmyeong Foundation for the Arts planned the last week of every month, “The Taste of Concert Jazz to See You” series. Every month you can see a variety of jazz worlds. For more details, I will hear from the person in charge of Gwangmyeong Cultural Foundation Kwon Bora.

“<Taste of Jazz> is a program designed as part of the Korean Culture and Arts Centers Association's <Culture Day> project and is held at the Gwangmyeong Civic Center 7 times in the last week of each month from April to November this year. Last year, we introduced several Korean traditional music teams with the <Taste of Korean Music> series and received a good response. This year, we invited 7 excellent jazz artists active at home and abroad on the theme of jazz to enjoy the difficult jazz genre with ease and fun. So it was planned.”

○ Sungyong Park: “A concert to meet you-a taste of jazz” held at the Gwangmyeong Civic Center in the last week of every month from April to November. I see that it's one of the businesses on the Day of Culture, so there's usually a show on the last Wednesday of the week. The performance this month (June) has already been performed, right?

▶ Suyoung Park: Yes, it was two days ago. On this Wednesday, the “Love Song” performance, where you could hear vocalist Moon Hye-won’s charming jazz vocalist, ended well with live broadcasts without audience.

○ Sungyong Park: I'm sorry. If I had known in advance, I would have been able to feel the jazz atmosphere at home while watching live broadcasts.

▶ Suyoung Park: Don't be too disappointed. Later, the highlight video was uploaded separately, and there are still many performances left.

○ Sungyong Park: Right. There have already been three performances from April until now. How are people's reactions?

▶ Suyoung Park: We planned to make it easy for people who didn't know jazz well or felt difficult to approach jazz by changing the concept of the performance every month. Let’s listen in detail about the reactions of the people and what kind of performances they were performing.

“To date, three performances have been held on the last Wednesday of each month in April, May, and June. Starting with the performance of <Spring Waltz> by Je-deok Jeon, the best harmonica player in Korea, <Funky Groove Concert> by ZSPA, a talented band featuring high-quality jazz band music, and the day before. On June 24th, the jazz concert <Love Song> by vocalist Moon Hye-won, who is well known for its bubble song, ended well. Until the performance in June, it was broadcast live on Naver TV, and over 16,000 people watched it, and through this, I could see that the “Taste of Jazz” series is receiving a lot of attention and love from the audience.”

▶ Suyoung Park: If you listen to stories like this, you can't feel it. Let’s take a glimpse of the “Spring Waltz” performance by harmonica player Je-deok Jeon and the “Funky Groove Concert” by talented band Z Spa.

○ Sungyong Park: The harmonica is the April performance, and the May band performance follows. Each performance has a slightly different feeling. Even though I've heard it a bit, it makes my heart moist on Friday evening before the weekend.

▶ Suyoung Park: There must be some people who are interested in jazz like me, but didn't know well yet, so they were wondering what kind of song to touch. In that case, it would be good to do it with Gwangmyeong Cultural Foundation’s ‘Concert to see-the taste of jazz'.

○ Sungyong Park: Right. This quality performance is free because it is a special performance by the Gwangmyeong Cultural Foundation! It is. It's a really rare opportunity. By the way, you said that the June performance was held as “live without audience”. Is it only available online?

▶ Suyoung Park: It depends on the situation. Originally, in the case of this June performance, we were recruiting a small number of spectators through “distance from the audience”. However, in accordance with the new situation, it was conducted with ‘live live'. Let’s hear from the person in charge Kwon Bo-ra, the performance culture that has changed due to the COVID-19 crisis.

“As COVID-19 continues to prolong and spread, Jeon Je-deok's harmonica concert in April was broadcast live on Naver TV without audience, and Zspa's <Funky Grovu concert> in May was also performed by <Sit in the Audience> with less than 100 people. Only a small number of spectators watched, and live broadcast live on Naver TV at the same time. And it was this Wednesday. Moon Hye-won's jazz concert, held on June 24, was also pre-booked, but two days before the performance, we eventually canceled the reservation and only live broadcast on Naver TV without audiences.”

▶ Suyoung Park: The future performances will continue to change depending on the situation. Aren't you curious about the next performances?

○ Sungyong Park: I'm curious. Three of the seven performances have ended, and now there are a total of four performances left. What kinds of performances are you prepared for?

▶ Suyoung Park: The next performance right now is on August 26th, with July. You can meet the experimental jazz of the Yoon Seok-cheol trio. For more information on the performance, I'll hear from the person in charge Kwon Bora.

[Interview/ Bora Kwon]

“The performance will not be held in July when the Gwangmyeong Citizen Hall is being inspected and will start again from August 26th with the Yun Seok-cheol trio <Song Book>. In September, the performance of Bascussion's <Street Jazz Party> will be held as a performance to go to the school in Gwangmyeong City. Will be released. Lastly, in November, Golden Swing Band's <Swing Night> will be held to show the true nature of swing jazz. In order for us to finish this jazz taste series more beautifully and wonderfully, we are also planning a Christmas concert by Yun-seon Na through our own special performance on December 27th.”

○ Sungyong Park: There is a stage inspection in July. That's too bad. From August, there are full-fledged performances every month, especially in September, you go directly to the school in Gwangmyeong City?

▶ Suyoung Park: September is Chuseok, so I go to school on the Monday of that week and join the students. You can enjoy the colorful and exciting jazz music of Bascus Brass Band. Besides, I was looking forward to the Golden Swing Band's “Swing Night” performance in November.

○ Sungyong Park: What kind of performance is it?

▶ Suyoung Park: You can think of swing jazz that we know well. It is said to show reinterpretation of famous songs from the swing era in the style of Golden Swing Band. Lastly, I will finish by listening to the ‘Taste of Jazz’ reservation method and event news.
