With prolonged “social distancing” due to the spread of COVID-19, more people are showing symptoms of ‘coronavirus depression’, such as anxiety and lethargy. To overcome this, Gyeonggi-do has decided to produce and distribute various culture, art, and hobby video material that can be enjoyed at home in order to help the psychological stability and mood changes of residents suffering from COVID-19 depression.

From April 12 to 30, Gyeonggi-do will sequentially publish the videos of 'Gyeonggi-do YouTube Special – COVID-19 Overcoming Depression Campaign’ through its YouTube channel. A total of 15 videos will be released through this program, which were produced in collaboration with Gyeonggi Art Center (Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation), famous YouTubers, popular podcasters, and local creators.

First, unattended performances ‘Bravo, President Uhm, ‘Jeong Nara & Jeong Hana Healing Concert’, and ‘Bye COVID-19! Let’s Join Pops” were broadcast live online on the 12th, 19th, and the 21st. On the 26th, a mini concert called 'Room Corner Live’ featuring emotional acoustic duo 'Jung Hum Band' and the vocal group 'Rim Hara', in which new singer Hajin who sang the OST ‘We All Lie’ from TV drama 'Sky Castle', will be held. The concert will introduce the stories of YouTube subscribers, tracks of performing singers’ albums, various cover songs, and performances of requested songs.

In April, a video made with collaboration from famous YouTubers, such as the movie review YouTuber 'Almost Not There' and Fitness YouTuber 'Jo Jun', will be released. YouTuber ‘Almost Not There’ will introduce ‘The Best 3 Recommended Films to Help Overcome COVID-19 Depression’, and YouTuber Jo Joon will produce a video ‘Home Training to Enjoy at Home.’

Contents have also been produced to address the regret at the loss of the Gyeonggi-do Spring Flower Festival, which was canceled due to COVID-19. The entertainment podcast “Cruel Love” will invite surprise guests and release the video contents of the Spring Flower Festival to enjoy online, if not offline. In addition, various videos produced by Gyeonggi media creators, such as magic show tricks to enjoy with children at home, and foods to boost immunity, will be released.

This Gyeonggi-do YouTube special feature-COVID-19 Overcoming depression campaign program can be enjoyed on Gyeonggi-do's official YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/ggholics).

Public Relations Media Officer Jeongmin Kim of Gyeonggi Provincial Government said “The recent increase in the number of people complaining of depression and lethargy due to the prolongation of COVID-19 protection measures has increased the need for health and psychological prevention as well. I would like every resident in Gyeonggi-do to limit any feeling of lethargy and boredom and find mental comfort.”
