Gyeonggi Province awarded a letter of commission to the first 24 “Gyeonggi Foreign SNS Reporters” who were finally selected through public recruitment. The 'Gyeonggi Foreigners SNS Reporter' is a project that Gyeonggi Province is promoting from this year in the 7th civil election to provide opportunities for foreign residents in the province to participate in the province as members of the local community.

The reporter group consisted of a variety of jobs, including foreign workers, international students, medical coordinators, lecturers, interpreters and translators. They will be active until the end of the year based on social media such as Facebook, WeChat, and Instagram, and will serve to provide useful information in a variety of foreign languages such as Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian to foreign residents in the information blind spot. In particular, we plan to create a variety of contents at each individual's level by discovering various contents such as major policies related to foreigners in Korea, changing systems, information related to counseling and support, provincial news, local festivals and events.

As part of this, the reporters' activities have expanded by translating and promoting policies currently being promoted by the central government and Gyeonggi Province, such as a free corona test for illegal immigrants and an emergency briefing on group infection in Itaewon Club from May this year.

"As real-time two-way communication becomes important due to the development of social media and video contents, the role of customized publicity is also growing," said Hong Dong-gi, head of the Foreign Policy Division. "In the future, not only does it serve as a bridge to connect Korean society and foreign residents closely, We look forward to doing a lot of activities with a messenger that delivers messages.”
